The Tamil Cultural & Academic Society of Durham fosters positive interactions among citizens by organizing social and cultural gatherings within the community, promotes new businesses to enhance economic growth in Durham, and welcomes new residents.

Tamil Cultural and Academic Society of DurhamThe Tamil Cultural & Academic Society of Durham, founded in 2008, works to promote a healthy and a safe community. The Society encourages participation in the environmental initiatives conducted by the City of Pickering to preserve and maintain diverse and natural environment.
 
The Society participates in the Adopt a Park program, and has adopted Bonita Park; supports cultural initiatives such as Heritage Day, Multi-Cultural Day, and Canada Day; and sponsors academic enrichment initiatives, such as science fairs, speech contests, and essay contests. It offers career and pre-planning for youth and collects food for local food banks. The Society is a supporter of the Tamil Summer Camp and the Believe in You Festival.
