The ICCAD helps new Canadians connect with other existing agencies in the Durham Region and promotes ethno-cultural awareness in the community, especially among young people.
The programs of the Indo Canadian Culture Association of Durham (ICCAD) are designed to bring people together and promote their full involvement in the civic life of Pickering. The organization has long recognized that for success in any Pickering endeavour, economic, social and environmental factors all play a part.

On the environmental front, the ICCAD takes part in the Community Garden and Adopt a Park program, believing that a safe, clean, natural and green Pickering is an important marker of a community in which residents can take pride.
The ICCAD takes every opportunity to promote trade and commercial relationships between Pickering and India. The members support local business and encourage investment in Pickering.
The Association is dedicated to understanding among all the people of Pickering. While its activities emphasize the involvement of residents who trace their roots to India, the ICCAD encourages the participation of all. Each year, the ICCAD hosts an annual Heritage festival, including an Indian flag-raising ceremony. It sponsors other cultural events, such as a friendship dinner to bring Pickering’s diverse community together.
The Association also raises funds for Durham West Arts Centre, the United Way, Community of Faith of Durham, and other charitable organizations. The ICCAD was recently recognized with Pickering’s Cultural Diversity Award for its work.
