In association with Habitat for Humanity and local businesses, Monarch Kitchen & Bath Centre recycles over 75% of renovation debris. Through its participation in Durham Sustain Ability’s Zero Waste Challenge, it has set a goal of being a paperless office by 2010.

Sustainability is the cornerstone of Monarch’s corporate philosophy. “We believe that companies must conduct sustainable business practices and be responsible stewards of the environment while seeking profit only in a manner that leaves the earth healthy and safe,” says President Neil Samson.

Helping Clean UpMonarch staff have completed David Suzuki’s “Nature Challenge at Work” and were one of the first businesses to join Durham Sustain Ability’s “We Have the Power for Business” energy conservation program. Monarch was the first member of the Ajax Pickering Board of Trade to receive a Certificate of Accomplishment − signifying they achieved 80 per cent compliance or better on the APBoT ETF Eco-Business Checklist.

Monarch recognizes the excessive amount of waste created during home renovation projects. In association with Habitat for Humanity and local businesses, Monarch recycles over 75% of renovation debris. Changes include accepting supplier catalogues/price books electronically only, sending electronic quotations, and not printing documents.

Monarch took its passion for the environment out to the businesses that share the 1020 Brock Road complex.
