Larry Noonan's work in Altona Forest focuses on the sustainability of the forest as an environmental resource for future generations of animals and humans in Pickering.
Larry Noonan has been a member of the Altona Forest Stewardship Committee since 1998 and chair or vice-chair since 2002. He has worked on trail design and development, pond restoration and new pond creation, clean up, and invasive species removal. He has also helped develop educational documents, led hikes, and written grant proposals.

He has developed educational resources on Altona Forest with the common themes of appreciation of this resource and protecting it for the future. He leads educational hikes into Altona Forest for public groups, schoolchildren in grades 1 to 8, and guide and scout groups. He shows these groups ways to preserve and protect the animals and plants of Altona Forest as a sustainable resource.
