Ontario EcoSchools

A professor at York University helped design this environmental education program that not only teaches students about the environment, but integrates eco-friendly practices into how schools are run. The program provides resource units to go along with the curriculum for Grades 1-12, as well as downloadable resource guides to assist in making schools more environmentally friendly.

Field Trips to the Kortright Centre

Professional Development for Teachers

The Toronto and Region Conservation Authority also offers Professional Development workshops for teachers. These sessions can be held at TRCA Educational facilities, allowing deeper exploration of certain topics than might be possible in a school setting.

TRCA offers various educational programs suitable for a number of grades. Some of these programs can be held in-school or in the local community, while others are offered during day trips to a TRCA Educational facility or even overnight at TRCA Residential Field Centres.

Trees for Life Canada

Trees for Life Canada Inc. (TFL CANADA) is a provincially and federally registered non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to promoting and providing resources for early age environmental education. TFL Canada prepared the "Grow-A-Tree" project which includes: educational materials, tree seeds and biodegradable growing cartons as well as care instructions for the developing trees. The kits are offered to schools for use with Kindergarten to Grade Six students.
