What is the GTA Clean Air Council?
In 2002, the City of Pickering joined the Greater Toronto Area Clean Air Council (GTA-CAC). The GTA-CAC membership comprises staff from departments and ministries in the federal, provincial, regional and municipal governments. The mission of the GTA-CAC is to:
  • Promote the reduction of air pollution emissions
  • Increase awareness of regional air quality issues
  • Identify and promote effective initiatives to reduce the occurrence of smog and other forms of air pollution in the GTA, and their associated health risks

What is the Clean Air Partnership?

The Clean Air Partnership (CAP) is a non-profit registered charity that provides support and service to the GTA-CAC through programs to improve local air quality and reduce greenhouse gases. CAP is responsible for activating and coordinating the GTA-CAC, and facilitates the planning and implementation of the GTA-CAC’s work program including: developing new announcements and Declarations, organizing annual Smog Summits, soliciting funds and conducting research.
