Also, look at opportunities through Volunteer Energy -Durham Region. One Million Acts of GreenCBC and The Hour with George Stroumboulopoulos mobilized Canadians to do One Million Acts of Green. The idea is that one small act can make a big difference. The program has reached its goal but you can still register one act -or more- and the green calculator will determine the impact of those acts on the environment. The Youth Centre The Youth Centre provides medical and counselling services and health promotion programs. It is a non-profit charitable community health centre for teens living in Ajax and Pickering, funded by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. PAC 4 Teens

Grants of $5,000 to $15,000 are available to support native tree-planting projects on publicly accessible lands in Ontario's cities and towns.
Ontario EcoSchoolsThis environmental education program addresses both how schools are run and what students learn. It incorporates environmental education as well as environmentally responsible action into the school setting. Peregrine Project School Visit
A biologist from the Canadian Peregrine Foundation will give students a presentation on peregrines and brings along a non-releasable peregrine to show. Yellow Fish Road Program
This program from Trout Unlimited Canada raises awareness about pollution entering local waterbodies through storm drains. Participation is geared toward school age children and teens. Seasonal Challenges

International Walk to School Month gives children, parents, school teachers and community leaders an opportunity to be part of a global event as they celebrate the many benefits of walking. Winter: Youth Snow Removal Program
Youth can sign up to help seniors in their neighbourhood who are not able to clear snow from their walkways, sidewalks, or driveways. You will be placed on a list, based on your address, and matched up with seniors who live nearby. |
